The summer is here and it’s the perfect time to relax, rest, read, and learn about iPads! This is a great time to explore projects and apps that we might use next year in the classroom. On this blog I am going to host 6 seasons on projects that might be useful in the elementary or middle school classroom, across all subject areas. It’s iPad Summer Camp!

Here is our syllabus:

Monday, June 24 – Creating a digital story with Book Creator
Wednesday, July 3 – Collaborative writing with Google Drive
Monday, July 15 – Teaching with Explain Everything
Wednesday, July 24 – Creating a film with iMovie
Monday, August 5 – Science and Social Studies with Puppet Pals
Wednesday, August 14 – Independent study – explore your own project

If you follow along you’ll be ready in the fall to run with these projects in class with your students. Plus, hopefully this will be a place to interact with others and offer tips and advice. I’ll give some examples for each project along with some suggestions, but the key is to figure it out yourself. Not sure about something? Touch a button on the screen and see what happens! Or even better, do a Google search and find the answer – I guarantee you’ll find it.

Check back in on Monday for Project 1 – Creating a digital story with Book Creator. I’ll show my example digital story using Book Creator, but if you prefer another writing app (e.g. Story Buddy), that’s fine. We’ll be integrating both text and images, so be prepared for that.

Hope to see you at camp!
